We've used Animal Couriers several times in the past for journeys from Spain to UK and so cannot really compare other carriers. Communication between the courier and pet owner is very important and AC appear to have taken this on board by the use of their blog and twitter which provides some progress reports on the journey. I still feel however that the use of these online tools could be extended e.g. texting the customer more frequently to advise on journey progress. With cheap vehicle/mobile phone tracking now available, it should be possible for customers to track the journey online. Granted, decent mobile coverage is not always available throughout the route, however the odd blip would be quite acceptable. As far as animal accommodation goes, the AC vans appear recent and well-equipped. One area that does concern me are the cages located at the back of their van. As I assume the doors to these cages open out, there is the possibility of escape. Although I must stress that I've never heard of this happening. Other cages inside the van can be accessed with the van door closed, a much safer option. An area which does concern me is the frequency of stops and allowing the dogs out to exercise. On this trip, on arrival in Scotland the dog bed was sodden. This seems to indicate that stops were less frequent than they should have been. Granted, the dog was only coming from England, however this is not the first time we have experienced the wet beds situation. Much of using any of these companies has to be based on trust. After you have waved bye-bye to little Fido, you have no control over what happens to your pet. Overall though I would continue to trust Animal Couriers and would use them in the future.
